Coaching Vs. College

I have a good friend who spent over $500 so that she could start studying and take a personal training certification exam and get certified as a trainer. I, a few years ago, racked up $10K in student loans for a Cosmetology program, and I didn't even end up completing my hours or working in cosmetology. In its most recent survey of college pricing, the College Board reports that a "moderate" college budget for an in-state public college for the 2013–2014 academic year averaged $22,826, with a moderate budget at a private college averaged $44,750.
WHY am I sharing this? Because I hear ALL the time that a business start up of $140 is too expensive…. and why would someone pay money to make money? And A LOT of those people have student loan debt or paid for a college degree that didn't even land them the job that they wanted. More and more college graduates are working bartender jobs or jobs that they could of gotten without a degree. Well for $140, you get a fitness program to try, 30 meals of Shakeology (I spend WELL over $100 on 30 meals anyways), 4 business websites, coach training, a mentor, an intern program, and help to guide you towards what needs to be done to get you from point A to YOUR DREAMS that seem so UNATTAINABLE one step at a time.
People are skeptical of this….But then, pay $500 for a PT CERT program to get a bunch of books to study and take a test with in 6 months to get a Certification….. now I am obviously not putting that down because I think that's wonderful. But the $500 is paying money to make money as well, yet we don’t find that SKEPTICAL!
As you can see the point here is the skepticism that we hold, that we are programmed through our culture that can hold us back from OUR OWN POTENTIAL…We (not all of us, and ME INCLUDED) pay over 10-100k to get a DEGREE… go in debt, spend 40+ hours a week studying for the debt that we got ourselves in to…. to finish school with a piece of paper and maybe a job. JOB NOT guaranteed. I have student loan debt from something that I didn't even end up pursuing, and I know many people from my class who did end up in salons, but still can't AFFORD to pay the loans that they had worked so hard to get.
I am sharing this with you to shed some light on what we as a culture are programmed to think. No one was skeptical when I paid for something that I didn't even really want to do…. no one was skeptical when anyone that I know who did end up with a college degree ended up earning 28k a year to start and couldn’t afford the debt that they had paid to get them the education to get the job….. no one is skeptical when people pay $500 to get a Personal Training Certification….. so then why is it that people are skeptical of $140 to get a fitness program, a workout, a business (YOUR OWN BEACHBODY FRANCHISE), and training. Then why is it that people doubt that $140? when it comes in a business form?
There is nothing wrong with college. It’s for some, it’s not for everyone. There is nothing wrong with a personal training certification. It’s for some, it’s not for everyone. There is nothing wrong with a network marketing business that helps others through health and fitness. It’s for some, it’s not for everyone, yet there are so many doubters and skeptics who want to speak negatively. Why is it that we are programmed to be skeptical of things we don’t understand?
If I told you you could go to college for 4 years and pay well over $80K, MAYBE get a job after, spending several years paying off your debt, then after 10 years be comfortable... OR, you could spend $140 on YOUR HEALTH (a fitness program + Shakeology), and with that get Coach websites that allow you to earn an income that at least covers your initial investment in the first month, then work your way up to making six-figures within the next 2-4 years, with NO debt, guaranteed career, and the ability to make seven-figures within the next 2-5 years... Which would you pick?
