Turn Your Failing Beachbody Business Around

The more and more I meet Coaches that are working the business (not including discount coaches), the more I realize that there are really three types of Coaches. There are the people who are hitting Elite- the leaders, the people who have extremely large client bases and teams, the people who have failed time and time again but continue to get back up, learn more, work harder, and become more successful. These people will never let go of their dream and they have earned their spot on the leader board. Then there are the people in the middle - the people who are getting weekly checks, they are happy, they always remember their why and they won't stop working towards their goals - whatever they may be (and maybe they are already there, if they were just looking for extra income!). And also included in this second category are the people who are just starting, but they will soon be there - they have the drive, they have the passion, and they will never take NO for an answer. And then there are the people who are unsure. The people who have no idea what to do. The people who had a goal, they had a dream, but they just have no idea how to get there. Or they lost it along the way. Their dream may have turned into a nightmare - it's overwhelming, it's frustrating, and they may feel insecure.

Has your dream of becoming a successful Coach turned into a nightmare?

If so, this post is for you.

After talking with several Coaches who have felt unsure of themselves, i've figured out that failures are either happening because of lack of information (or should I say being overwhelmed with the amount of information and what to do with it OR failure to do the research on their own- possibly just not sure where to start), feeling down about "no's", or having an unwillingness to leave their comfort zones and make changes.

The information is there. It's just about getting it, or finding it. Obviously having an attentive upline to guide you to that information is helpful, but let's be honest, it's YOUR business, and if you want it to be successful, ultimately its up to you. My upline Coach did not have upline help, and she built a six-figure business in one year and is a 3x Elite Coach. Am I grateful that I have her help, support, and knowledge? Of course. I do think that having a successful upline DOES help, but it doesn't mean that you CAN'T succeed if you don't have one... which is why I want to help and share my tips for turning a failing business into a strong and successful business with you!

When a Coach first starts, there are a lot of areas that need to be built up. At this stage, people can begin to feel overwhelmed with the amount of options that they have on how to run their business and trying to find what works best for them. People at this point are normally still open to new ideas and approaches, which is exciting. But the problem is that as you go through this stage of trial and error for yourself, doubt can start to creep in. The systems and processes that have been created are amazing, but hearing "no" and having people not understand the value of what you are doing just comes with the territory. As a new and excited Coach, one of the hardest parts of the business is talking to people who just don't get it. It's hard to have people tell you no, or simply stop responding to you all together. It's hard to get people to just understand that you are trying to help them and you have this amazing way for them to change their life.

Once the negative thoughts start to come about, it can be hard to recover - especially without a positive support system. This is normally where people will start to give up - after a month or two of feeling like they haven't made any improvements. They may start thinking things like "Is it worth the time to keep inviting if I never find clients or team members?" "How fast will I see results?"

Let me ask you this: If you had a client in their 1st month not get to their goal weight, Would you let them quit? Or would you tell them to suck it up, keep going, keep working out, keep eating healthy, and give it time? It's the compound effect. Small daily changes that eventually add up to the bigger picture - even if it is slow. Everyone is different - one client may take a year to reach their goal, while another client may take two months. One Coach may be a six-figure earner after a year, and one Coach may be making $300 per week. Don't give up on your goals just because you haven't gotten there YET!

Chances are, there is a easy solution to your problems. You've already spent money investing into your business. You've spent time learning it. Is it really unthinkable to spend more time learning about yourself and determining the root cause of your challenges?

As a Coach, you are now an entrepreneur. Remembering your "WHY" and staying open to new ideas and approaches is essential. Many people in our line of business see challenges, but they don't do anything about those challenges. Until they turn into major frustrations one day and all hell breaks loose. I'll give you an example. I had a Coach on my team who was a Coach for six months. She really never took much advice from me, never attended the team calls, never attended team trainings, and every once in a while would post something on Facebook about a challenge group. Her challenge was always that she wasn't making an income, and she didn't want to put time into a failing business. BUT, she wasn't looking at the bigger picture - the reason why she wasn't making an income, is because she wasn't REALLY working. She wasn't doing anything about her challenge. She was treating her business like a hobby and occasionally posting about it, but if you had a regular job, would you just post on Facebook about it once every other week and expect to get paid? Of course not. You would work. 5 days per week. It finally got to a point where her husband lost his job - and then the frustration set in. Then it blew up. She couldn't handle it anymore. Could she make a paycheck to help her family? Could she use that bad experience of her husband losing her job to motivate her to turn her business around? YES! And I wish she would of! But, she was already frustrated, and that added to it. It was too much.

Think of the "boiling frog" story... If you throw a frog into a pot of boiling water, it will leap out immediately to escape the danger. But, put the same frog in a pot of water that is cool, and gradually heat the pot until it boils, The frog will not become aware of the threat until it’s too late. You can build the business of your dreams. But you have to attack challenges as they come at you, handle them, and move on.

If your business is at this point of frustration, negative feelings, or confusion... DON'T GIVE UP. Take these steps:

Step 1:

Determine your problem. And not just the surface problem.. dig deeper to find what's really happening. First, write down the points where you feel like you are struggling. Is there a point where you are having trouble getting people to commit? Are you unsure of how to approach people with your challenges or with the opportunity? Are you unsure of how to even run a challenge, or how to train a new coach? Now look further into that. Are you having a problem getting people to commit because you are being too salesy or pushy? Are you unsure of how to approach people because you aren't comfortable with recommending programs, because you haven't learned much about them? Are you unsure of how to train a new coach because you never took the time to go through a Coach Basics training yourself? Then take that list and determine what YOU can do to change those struggles.

Step 2:

The first steps to building any business is a solid foundation. Look back to when you started and what you have built or done from that first day. Have you went through the training program that your team offers? Have you set your short term and long term goals? Have you set dates of when you want to reach your goals by? Do you have your work hours blocked off on your calendar? Have you set your action plans and daily to-do lists? Do you have your weekly team calls on the calendar to participate in? Do you have lists for keeping track of your clients, and lists for keeping track of your team? These are things that all need to happen before you can even start working, let alone become successful. If you haven't done these things, take some time to get organized. I use Evernote to keep track of everything and it's a lifesaver. This should be your #1 step, so if you haven't done these things, get on it!

Step 3:

Don't let no's get you down and realize that failure IS A GOOD THING. This is a HUGE one. Every business owner - Coach or not - is going to hear no. Do you honestly think the CEO of Checkers is upset because I hate their food? No way! (If you don't know, Checkers is a fast food restaurant that has the most disgusting cheese sauce burgers)

I learned this lesson from a top Coach... while a no may hurt - it's mostly because you want to help someone and they aren't accepting that help. That doesn't mean that they will never come around, in fact i've had several people who told me no come back later on asking for help. Keep your head up, keep being friendly and helpful to them, you can even start a free support group for people who aren't ready to commit to a Challenge or just talk fitness with someone who isn't interested in Coaching! Who knows, they may have a referral for you!

And guess what? Failure IS GOOD. Failure means that you are trying. Failure means that you are making contacts, and planting the seed that you are there to help them. Failure means that you are learning if there are things that YOU can do to turn those failures into successes. Failure means that success is just around the corner - the more you fail, the more successful you will be. It's not a bad thing, I promise!!!

Step 4:

Look at your approach and be honest with yourself. If you aren't following a specific daily to-do list (which I highly recommend), write down how long you work each day and what you did. At the end of the week, have a meeting with yourself to evaluate your week. Did you truly do enough to be successful? How many new contacts did you make? How many new relationships did you build - unrelated to Beachbody? How many people did you invite to your upcoming Challenge Group? How many people did you invite to learn more about Coaching? How many people did you reach out to with helpful tips, motivation, or advice.. without expecting anything in return? Are you connecting with like-minded people... people you relate to, people you have something in common with other than possibly Beachbody, or are you trying to appeal to everyone? Are you doing personal development? Are you working out and eating healthy? Are you drinking Shakeology? Are you posting about your experiences? Are you committing to yourself, or do you have excuses? If you are unwilling to commit to yourself, people aren't very likely to follow you and be inspired by you.

Step 5:

Get into personal development. Seriously, work on yourself. It will change your life. Commit 30 minutes per day to some sort of personal development - ask your team what they recommend and what has helped them. Some of my favorites are the 30 Day Push with Chalene, The Compund Effect, Failing Forward, and the 30 day Business Bootcamp with Dani Johnson.

Step 6:

This one is a two step step (that makes sense.. right?). #1: Commit to being a part of your team. Your team is like your family... There is more than just one person (your upline) contributing to your team, make it a habit to check into your team pages every single day and talk to your team, share your experiences, read other people's posts, and ASK for help if you need it. I am positive that someone on your team will help you if you don't have a helpful upline. #2: FIND A SUCCESS PARTNER! Post in your team page that you're looking for a success partner. Find someone that you relate to- maybe you come from a similar background, you're both parents, you live in the same city, or you have very similar goals or outlooks on life. Talk to them daily or weekly and hold eachother accountable. Share ideas, what's worked for you and what hasn't, successes and struggles. Having someone on your side WILL HELP YOU! And this one is for people who have helpful uplines, as well. Having a second opinion and someone else to help you is a good thing. The more motivation you have, and the more people holding you accountable, the more likely you are to succeed.

Step 7:

FORGET THE PAST and learn to move on. If something happens that you don't necessarily like, just stop thinking about it as soon as it's over. It's not going to help you to dwell on the things that have not worked for you in the past. Just because a couple of people responded to your post about your upcoming Challenge and ended up not being interested doesn't mean that no one will ever be interested. Just brush it off, and move on. You will find the right people. There are people out there who need your help, even if you haven't found them YET. And if you really just feel like what you are doing currently isn't working- look up youtube videos of other Coaches and listen to their tips for success. So many Coaches have amazing tips that you can easily implement in your own business, you just have to put some time into doing research and finding things that sound like they are more your style.

Step 8:

If you're going to try to find new tactics to success - be open minded and don't be afraid to step outside of that comfort zone. Seriously, you are going to be a better Coach, and a better person because of it. Stepping outside of comfort zones is how you learn and grow. It's how you figure out what really works for you. Beachbody has simple steps that every Coach can take for success - but everyone has their own style, and maybe you still need to find yours. Explore! Learn! Grow!

If you want to be successful, no more excuses from here on out. Make a promise with yourself. It's your life, your business, and your dream. So make it happen, and most importantly, DO NOT GIVE UP ON YOURSELF. You've got this!!
