Monthly fees, new shoes and workout outfits, gas to and from the gym, trainer and nutritionist fees, new equipment, private classes - Getting in shape can be expensive!
It is possible to get in shape without going broke. Here are a few tips that can help you to see results without seeing your wallet getting just as thin as you are.
If classes, gym membership fees and a personal trainer aren't in your budget, Follow an in-home fitness program! You can get a great workout in your living room for the price of one private yoga lesson or a few Zumba classes. When you get an in-home fitness program through Beachbody, you have a top fitness trainer, a network of other people that are on in-home fitness programs, chances to win cash prizes and a free Coach to help motivate and encourage you to reach your goals.. All for a one time price! And as your Coach, I can help you work within your budget to keep it as cost effective as possible to you.
If you are worried about the extras, Get a workout program that doesn't require any equipment. With fitness programs such as P90X and Body Beast, you are going to want to get weights, yoga mats, ect. to complete the program and get the best results; but with programs such as Insanity, Les Mills Combat or Hip Hop Abs, there is no extra equipment needed! Or you can also get creative! You don't need to invest in a full set of dumbbells or a weight bench to do resistance training. Turn everyday household items into makeshift equipment - canned soup cans be used as light weights, furniture can add instability, and a milk crate can work as a step. Our Message Boards are the perfect place to find DIY ideas. Exercise bands are also cheap, light, and take up almost no space in your house. All of our weight training workouts provide options to use bands, Beachbody does this to eliminate excuses.
If you can't afford a fitness program at this time and need to workout with no cost to you, Hit the pavement! The great outdoors is like a free cardio room. Your city might offer a great workout opportunity. Search for bike trails, hiking, swimming, or local high schools where you can run outside. To torch fat, do outdoor intervals. Run up a hill or stairs at top speed for up to a minute, then walk back down at your normal pace to catch your breath and recover.
Too cold, rainy, or even too hot to run outside? Jumping jacks, burpees, planks, push ups, lunges, sit ups, are all easy ways to get a 15-20 minute in from home. Make it easy and stick with the basics when you aren't follow a fitness program or in the gym with a trainer so that you don't have to worry too much about form and hurting yourself on exercises that you may not be too familiar with. Follow a good clean eating meal plan... Abs are made in the kitchen and your diet can do wonders for weight loss even with short exercise routines!
If you can't splurge on a nutritionist, learn to shop smart. Stick to the basics. Shop seasonal produce and lean meats. Nutritionists also tend to write books, such as Michael Pollan's Food Rules. Shakeology is an affordable way to have 30 ultra-healthy meals at less than $4 per shake. I know most people spend more than that on breakfast or lunch (or snacks, or Starbucks). Have a plan, make a list of your meals ahead of time so you're not winging it once you get to the store. If you are a Club Member on our website, you can take advantage of our personalized meal planner or if you are a free member ask your coach to send you a meal plan for free. If I am your Coach, ask me how to join my free clean eating challenges so that you can learn how to eat healthy without breaking the bank. Don't be swayed by unhealthy foods and don't go to the grocery store hungry.
